"The Backyard Bluegrass Tour"
The Hamilton County Bluegrass Band exploded onto the New Zealand folk and country music scene in 1968, the first group to popularise bluegrass music. In its heyday, anchoring a widely enjoyed TV show on Saturday evenings, touring the country and representing country music three times in a national music awards event, it became one of NZ’s best-loved outfits. After extensive Australian touring with Slim Dusty, the band became the first, and only, NZ group to play the Grand Ole Opry. They are still the top-selling country group on the EMI label. Some folks reckon they're playing better than ever.
Three decades later, four of the founding members are playing regularly again. Colleen Trenwith(fiddle), Paul Trenwith (banjo), Alan Rhodes (guitar) and David Calder(mandolin) now have Tim Trenwith playing the bass. The group still enjoys a special place in the hearts of Kiwis, with a finger-pickin’ good repertoire of traditional and original tunes.

Legal Tender is a Kapiti Coast duo, which performs extensively throughout the country. They are seen regularly at major festivals and venues, sometimes expanding the line-up with guest musicians. Moira Howard (bass) and Ian Campbell (guitar) combine powerful vocal harmonies with their instruments, and their excellent mix of material includes original and well-known contemporary country songs.

With these two fine acts on the same stage, there is a unique blend of Country, Bluegrass and Folk music. It ensures you a toe-tapping show, with something for everyone.
